Course Pre-requisite:
- Written and oral English skills equivalent to NCEA Level 1 (Year 11) or an IELTS score of 5.5 or higher
Course Outline
Theory; Skill Standard 40735 – Operate A Forklift Safely
- Demonstrate knowledge of the safe operation of a forklift
- Conduct a pre-operational inspection and start up procedure for a forklift
- Safe procedures when re-fuelling, re-charging batteries and changing Gas cylinders for a forklift
- Demonstrate practical forklift skills
- Park and shut down a forklift.
Practical drive that includes
- Vehicle pre-checks
- Stacking and De-stacking a load
- Safe parking and shutting down
Need To Know
Practical drives:
All practical drives are completed in accordance with Competenz National Standards as required by NZ Transport Agency guidelines. Upon successful completion of Skill Standard 40735 you will be issued with a Certificate of Competency and a wallet sized ID card (OSH certified) from Know The Rule that is valid for 3 years from the date that you successfully completed the Forklift Truck Operator course.
- It is required that this course (SS40735) be renewed every three years.
- THE COMPLETION OF THIS UNIT STANDARD DOES NOT ALLOW you to operate any powered industrial lift truck (Forklift) on any area deemed to be a public road in New Zealand.
